Prior to taking the stage for the first of back-to-back nights at Colorado’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheater, Eric Church took to Facebook Live to reveal very exciting news about his 2017 touring plans.

As thousands of fans tuned in, the “Record Year” singer revealed that he would embark on a 60+ city 2017 tour, aptly titled Holdin’ My Own Tour. The run will launch January 13, 2017 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb. and will make its way across North America with stops in Chicago, Ill, Los Angeles, Calif., and Tampa, Fla, just to name a few. The exciting tour will wrap with two nights at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Always known to do things differently, Church will not have an opening act on this tour. The North Carolina native and the ECB will play two complete sets with an intermission between at each date.

As someone who’s been outspoken about scalpers in the past, Church is revamping the ticket sale process to ensure that scalpers won’t be able to get their hands on any tickets.

“In this era where growing inequality seems to be the norm, we wanted to do everything within our power to put the advantage back in the hands of true fans rather than those that take advantage of the system, and by extension our people,” said John Peets, Church’s manager. “It was important to us to invest time into evaluating and redesigning the ticket buying process and build the technology to level the playing field.”

Church and his team will implement a new pre-sale system that will take scalpers out of the process before it even starts. According to a press release, Church Choir members will have the chance to pre-register for the fan club pre-sale. His team will then verify members and they will receive a text with a purchase link once the pre-sale starts. Those who appear to be working the system and posing as fan club members will be excluded from the pre-sale.

The new pre-sale will feature even more tickets and will be the only pre-sale offered for the tour.

As he has done in the past, Church will cancel all ticket orders that are found to be made by scalpers. He warns fans to steer clear of the secondary ticket market because all tickets found there will likely be invalid by the show date.

Another way Church is combating scalpers is by not delivering tickets until a few days before each show. He hopes that this new process will make it next to impossible for scalpers to sell their tickets.

“The way this album came together mandated we release it as a surprise, straight to our fans, as it was important for me to deliver the music the same way the creativity hit me—directly and swiftly. What I didn’t anticipate is that it left me scratching my head a little as this year was supposed to be spent writing.”  Church continues, “What this year’s open schedule did afford us was time to think through the way the fans experience our music live, and it was important to us that we find a way to stick to these same principles when it came to approaching our shows, down to the way they go on sale.”
