Eric Church’s ‘Mr. Misunderstood’ Wins CMA Album of the Year

In one of the fiercest categories of the night, Eric Church has claimed the title of Album of the Year for his project, Mr. Misunderstood.

Mr. Misunderstood was released during last year’s CMA Awards show and features several hits, including “Record Year,” “Mr. Misunderstood” and his current single, “Kill a Word.”

“Not sure what’s better, winning the award or Faith Hill fixing my tie,” Church joked upon receiving his prize. “I think it’s Faith Hill fixing my tie. But I just wanted to say we started this a year ago, we surprised everybody with this album on this stage and we trusted the fans and we gave it to the fans first. It’s because of the fans that this happened and I love you and I thank you.”

Fellow nominees in the category include Dierks Bentley’s Black, Maren MorrisHero, Keith Urban’s Ripcord and Carrie Underwood’s Storyteller.

The 50th Annual CMA Awards are hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. See everything that went down during tonight’s show HERE.
