Ryan and his girlfriend Amy recently caught their local stop of the “CMT Tour” featuring Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser. Not only did they enjoy a fantastic show, they got a special treat when Jamey invited them to join the after party! Read below to get Ryan’s recap of the night and to see some of his fun pictures!

Randy Houser sang first and put on a great show with a mix of his 1st cd and new songs from his upcoming cd. Highlights included the new song “Whistlin’ Dixie” and he finished with “Boots On”. He did a few cover songs including Willie Nelson’s “Whiskey River”. This show was in a small venue called the Williamsburg Music Hall in Brooklyn and Randy’s voice sounded amazing up close and personal.

Jamey Johnson came next and absolutely rocked the house. His gruff voice sounded never better than it did last night. His songs were a great mix of funny, sad, dark, happy, and deep. He sang his entire “Lonesome Song” cd and gave us some sneak peaks of his upcoming album. During the song, “Lonesome Song” he came over to us (we were right in the front of the stage) and threw us some guitar picks. He brough Randy Houser out for the encore and they sang about 5 or 6 songs together. It was an amazing show.

After the show, while walking back to our car, we saw a tour bus down the block. We walked over and Jamey & Randy were hanging out in front of the bus. We went over and they were friendly as can be. We got autographs and some pictures with them both. Jamey asked if we wanted to go to a country bar called “Doc Hollywood” for both band’s after party? Of course we accepted.

We hung out with them to the early hours of the morning and they were so friendly and so gracious. Jamey and I spoke about his Grammy award, his daughter, his upcoming cd, the present state of country music, as well as his new look (compared to his look from his 1st cd). I have met a bunch of artists, but their graciousness and humbleness really impressed me. It was certainly a night to remember.
