Rather than taking some time off to chill after finishing the Dig Your Roots Tour with Florida Georgia Line, Cole Swindell is switching things up for fans by taking on the Down Home Tour with some new songs and different renditions of old favorites.

While Swindell has been opening for the country duo in huge arena venues across the country, he’s decided to dial it down a notch when it comes to his upcoming tour to give the fans a more intimate approach to his performances. Remembering the days of when he used to play in bars back in college, Swindell wants to mirror the same connections and vibes he felt at his smaller shows to give his fans the unexpected ties he always hopes to create with them.

“That’s what we’ve been doing. It’s nonstop. We’re getting done with FGL tour, figuring out what our set’s gonna be like. We want it to be a different experience and I think these Down Home Sessions songs is gonna make a difference. We don’t play a whole lot of those on tour, so this is where they can hear those songs and your hardcore fans are gonna be the ones that know them. It’s pretty cool to build a set with new music—some of the older Down Home Sessions, we got my singles in there that have allowed me to do this Down Home Tour, and then we have songs I’ve written for other people. We may break it down and do some different versions, acoustic stuff,” he explained recently to Sounds Like Nashville and other media outlets at a No. 1 party in Nashville.

Bringing out some up-and-coming artists on the road with him as well to gain their exposure to his fans, Swindell knows that fans are in store for a whole new set of excitement when they come to any of the Down Home Tour dates.

“I’ve got my tour mates—Jon Langston, Cole Taylor, Travis Denning—guys that are right where I was just four years ago, I feel like,” he said. “To take them out and give my fans an experience of some guys I believe in that we’re in my shoes not long ago, or where I was not long ago, I’m just glad to take them out. Fans are in for a lot of energy. We’re gonna mix it up, not gonna give any secrets away. But nothing crazy production-wise. We’re taking it back…heck, when I started playing bars, I didn’t have any production anyways, so we’re gonna have a good time up there and it’s just gonna be like it was when I started 10 years ago.”

The Down Home Tour starts in November and will continue on until right before Christmas, with the last date scheduled for December 20 in Indiana. Fans who would like to see Swindell on this special tour can check out his website for more information.
