Welcome to Feel-Good Friday, a weekly roundup of heartwarming stories, lighthearted videos, and inspiring country news that reminds us all there is still good in the world.

Dolly Parton makes Stephen Colbert cry

Dolly Parton returned to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert this week and shared some of the stories behind her new book, Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics as well as sang a song her mother used to sing to her as a child. Parton explained that “Bury Me Beneath the Willow” is “about  a girl that was going to get married, and her boyfriend left her at the altar. So she died, of course.” She then sang the song as Colbert began to cry.

“I better hush before you cry yourself to death and you can’t finish the show,” Parton says. “We used to cry when mama would sing. Those old songs are amazing though.”

Luke Bryan took a walk down memory lane this week and posted several memorable photos of his over-the-top Halloween costumes with wife, Caroline. With the holiday just a week away, his post begs the question, “Any guesses on what @linabryan3 is going to get me into this year?”

“I’m getting the band back together this Friday night and we’re going to perform all 5 of the new songs, as well as take requests for what else y’all want to hear,” he says.

Maren Morris’ son attends his first concert

Maren Morris returned to the stage this week for several virtual concerts at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Husband Ryan Hurd and the couple’s son, Hayes, looked on with headphones during her set. Hurd shared another photo seated beside Hayes while holding his hand and watching his mom’s show from the Ryman balcony.

“Hayes got to see his first show ever and it was his mom at the empty Mother Church during a pandemic,” Morris captions a photo of Hurd holding their son. “Someday he will know how bizarre and rare that was.”
