Florida Georgia Line Hits Home Run with Appearance at 2018 MLB All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game

Before his days as a country music superstar, Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley was a professional baseball hopeful, having played the game for most of his life. Throughout college, he split his time between the field and songwriting, feeding his passion for both. While he had prospects of being recruited for a pro team, Kelley inevitably made his way to Nashville, where he met his future duo partner, Tyler Hubbard.

Though he spends his nights entertaining thousands of fans behind a guitar rather than a baseball bat, Kelley got to re-live his baseball glory days when he was invited to play in the 2018 MLB All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game, as well as perform for fans with a special two-song set.

Among the other stars who strapped on their cleats were actor Jamie Foxx, Softball Olympian Jennie Finch, Chicago Fire actor Taylor Kinney, actor and veteran J.R. Martinez, Scientist and TV star Bill Nye, Twilight actress Ashley Greene, Hamilton actor Chris Jackson, comedian and HQ Trivia host Scott Rogowsky and Orange is the New Black actress Dascha Polanco, among others.

While he did not take the field, Hubbard looked on from a box in support of his bandmate.

The two chronicled their activities while at the game with a slew of photos posted to their social media. Among them were shots of the two meeting Shaquille O’Neal, also known as DJ Diesel. Kelley also highlighted his custom pair of cleats, sporting the words Gypsy Jungle Beach Boy.

The 2018 MLB The All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game aired on the MLB Netword, MLB.com and SiriusXM on Sunday, July 15 live from Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
