Along with their current remix of Justin Bieber’s hit “Yummy,” Florida Georgia Line have collaborated with some of the biggest names in music over the years. But there’s at least one superstar who’s turned down the chance to work with the duo — Carrie Underwood.

After reaching out to the fellow country icon via social media to pitch a new collab back in February, outlets everywhere picked up the news that a massive new matchup might be in the works. But since then a few other things have happened … like the shut down of the entire world … and fans never heard any more about it. But speaking with CMT Hot 20 Countdown’s Cody Alan recently, Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard say that’s because Underwood passed on the track.

“No, we got turned down on that one,” Hubbard tells his host, going on to say “You don’t win ‘em all. I guess she didn’t love it as much as we did, but that’s alright.”

Later on the duo explain that Underwood was very gracious about the offer, but the release of her book, Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit52 Life, was keeping her too busy to partake. So now, they’re just biding their time until the right duet parter comes along.

“I think she said it was amazing and she’d love to, but it was right around her book tour release and so she was super busy and didn’t really have time,” Hubbard said. “But who knows, who knows where it will go. Now it’s just open game.”

Florida Georgia Line have plenty of collaborative experience behind them, including big-ticket tracks with Bebe Rexha, Jason Derulo, The Chainsmokers, Backstreet Boys, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen and more, so we figure something will work out. In the meantime, their new track “I Love My Country” is out now.
