Producer Joey Moi helped Florida Georgia Line reach the top of the country charts, but before working with FGL, Moi made a name for himself by producing Nickelback. The Canadian rock group has long been the punchline of many jokes, and it’s something the country duo is very aware of.

“I know a lot of people like to hate or love to hate Nickelback,” Brian Kelley says. “But they put out some amazing songs, sold a ton of records.”

They also realize that their sounds are going to have some similarities, thanks to Moi being behind the console, but Tyler Hubbard thinks Moi does a great job of making sure both have their own unique sound.

“I think Joey does a great, great job of kinda keepin’ it separate also,” Hubbard explains. “And kinda knowin’ how to add a good taste of somethin’ different in country music, but not too much. Just enough to tickle the earbuds, just a little bit.”

Hubbard likes that Moi is doing so well in the country world after proving himself for years and years in the rock world.

“A lot of respect and love for that guy for sure,” Hubbard says.

Moi has also worked with acts such as Jake Owen and Dallas Smith.
