If you follow Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and his wife Hayley on social media, two things are crystal clear. First: they both love their family very much. And second: Tyler loves him a little shut eye.
It’s true that life on the road is famously grueling for touring musicians, but as it turns out things are often just as hectic once they get home — especially when the usual demands on a superstar are multiplied by two young children. Speaking in a recording made for the media by FGL’s record label, Big Machine, Tyler admits that sleep is the key to holding everything together, so he’ll take all he can get — even if he gets a little ribbing for it online.
“I can kinda go on four or five [hours] if I need to, but preferably I like to get seven or eight hours,” Hubbard says. “You start to feel the effects when you get run down and get tired. And, you know, Hayley knows that as well. So, we’re a good team and she knows it’s better for everybody if I get a little rest and can kinda do my thing.”
At the moment, doing his thing probably does require a full night’s rest. He and Brian Kelley are working on FGL’s upcoming fifth album, and this summer they’ll embark on the stadium-filling Chillaxification Tour with Kenny Chesney, Old Dominion and Michael Franti & Spearhead.
