Courteney Cox gave fans a treat over the weekend when she posted a video of herself performing the chorus of Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” with a superstar cast including John himself, Brandi Carlile and Ed Sheeran. Friends star Cox played the piano while John, Carlile and Sheeran sang, but the chorus featured one little change: they sang “Hold me closer, Tony Danza” instead of the song’s original lyrics. This funny change was in reference to one of Lisa Kudrow’s hilarious lines in Friends as the character Phoebe Buffay. In the video, Sheeran dedicates the performance to Kudrow before the group launches into the song.

“One of the greatest moments of my life. This one’s for you @lisakudrow,” wrote Cox alongside the video.

Kudrow delivered the line in the classic sitcom when she and Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel are talking about the most romantic songs. Phoebe believe it’s “the one that Elton John wrote for that guy on Who’s The Boss” and then sings, “Hold me close, young Tony Danza.” Kudrow posted a video on her Instagram page in which she reacted to the group’s performance, noting that while it was good, they actually sang the wrong lyrics.

“That was one of the most thrilling things ever. It was so good. Technically, it’s ‘Hold me close, young Tony Danza.’ But what you did was great, too,” she said, almost taking on her Friends character yet again.

Carlile recently performed a tribute performance for John at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and Cox recently participated in Friends: The Reunion, which is streaming on HBO Max. In another Instagram video posted by Cox, she and Sheeran do a dance routine from the show.
