Although 2020 was a strange year for country music and nearly every industry across the nation, country newcomer Gabby Barrett still managed to have a stand-out year. This year, her breakout single “I Hope” dominated both the country and all-genre charts and earned 3x Platinum status. 2020 was also Barrett’s first full year of marriage to husband Cade Foehner, and it was the year she became pregnant with their first child. When looking back on the past 12 months, Barrett feels only gratitude.

“I would probably say unexpected but blessed if I could put it in a small way,” she shared with reporters, including Sounds Like Nashville. “There’s just so many things that I would have never guessed with the pandemic, with being pregnant, with all the accomplishments that have come this year. It’s just been a very big year for me that I’ve been very humbled by. It’s just crazy because since I was 11 and I would work really hard every single year, I never got things handed to me easily, so to see all of these things happening this year, it’s just like I’m spinning on my head.”

The singer is planning to bring that momentum into 2021 as well, starting with the big milestone of becoming a mother to their new daughter, due early next year. Barrett is also looking forward to a successful new year career-wise, teasing that she has big tour plans should touring resume.

“Goals for 2021, I will definitely be out on tour with somebody really cool and definitely looking into some headline touring things as well,” she says. “So, that’s things to expect as well as new music.”
