After a third-place finish on American Idol, Gabby Barrett stepped into the spotlight with the release of her first official single since her run on the singing competition.

Titled “I Hope,” the track is a sizzling slow burner charged with attitude, powerhouse vocals and groovy blues elements.

“I hope she cheats like you did on me,” she sings in the scorching track. Co-written by Barrett, Zachary Kale and Jon Nite, “I Hope” plays out like a vengeful and angry message to a cheating ex-boyfriend.

“After my ‘Idol’ chapter closed, I knew this song was the one I wanted to frame myself with,” Barrett said. “Being a female, I know what it’s like to go through a break up and not get to say what you really want to. This song is for anybody that has gone through the same.”

The American Idol alum will hit the road for a few tour dates in 2019, including a performance at Tortuga Music Festival in April.
