Today (9/10), Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood were honored with stars on the Music City Walk of Fame.

The Walk of Fame on Nashville’s Music Mile honors those from all genres of music who have contributed to the world through their music and made a significant contribution to the music industry with a connection to Music City. All inductees are nominated through the Visit Music City website.

The ceremony also marked the first time that a husband and wife were honored on the same day.

Brooks, who was excited about the celebration, was even more honored to be next to his wife, and another country music superstar. “It’s pretty sweet in the fact that its right there, it’s right next to Miss Yearwood,” Brooks tells CountryMusicIsLove. “So, to kind of put it in cement and then to know that right to the left of us is Loretta Lynn, the queen of country music. That’s a pretty good neighborhood to be in. I’m the luckiest guy on the planet, in between Trisha and Loretta.”

For Yearwood, the day was full of reflection as she looked back on her entire career and a dream she set out to realize when she was just a little girl. “It’s awesome. You know, awards are great. You take them home and put them in a special place, but something that’s actually in cement, that is in the city forever is surreal and amazing. As a young girl, all I wanted to do was to move here and be a singer and to be a part of the community. So today really kind of brings it all home for me. It just feels like ‘Wow, we actually did all that.’ It’s really special.”

Fans can see Yearwood and Brooks’ spots on the Music City Walk of Fame as stars 64 and 65, respectively.
