Garth Brooks fans have been anticipating the singer’s next project, which turns out to be a live album recorded over the duration of his three-year U.S. tour. The Oklahoma native has been teasing tidbits about what to expect, including the small piece of info that he’ll be covering Ashley McBryde’s moving “Girl Goin’ Nowhere.”

Triple Live‘s coming and it’s coming soon,” Brooks told viewers during his weekly Inside Studio G Facebook Live video. “Ashley McBryde, does she have a song on there? Yes! Can you find a song in our catalog from Ashley McBryde? No! So this is gonna be good. This Triple Live is gonna be full of surprises and hopefully all the stuff that you kind of come to the show for, too.”

The singer has covered the track several times during his tour, and its live recording is one of Brooks’ favorite parts of the new album.

“I’ve got to tell you, it was one of my favorite if not my favorite moment[s] on the record,” he revealed.

Having her song covered by one of music’s biggest acts was an emotional and touching experience for McBryde, who broke out onto the country scene with her critically-acclaimed debut record. She was excited to confirm the news on the ACM Honors red carpet Wednesday night, August 22.

“Yeah, Garth just let the cat out of the bag that he is releasing ‘Boy Going Nowhere on his live records,” she shared with a smile. “He started covering, ‘Girl Going Nowhere’ in the middle of last year and we didn’t know that he was going to put it on record or anything, so it was really cool when he called and said, “Ms. Ashley, can I put ‘Boy Going Nowhere’ on my record?’ Uh-Yes, sir. You can!”

“It’s really good to have Garth Brooks’ cut. It’s even cooler when the name pops up on your phone,” she laughed. “When that name pops up, I show everyone. ‘You see this? You see this? It’s Garth!’ And every time, he says, ‘Hello, Ms. Ashley. It’s Garth.’ You just melt. Your knees go out from under you. He’s the nicest guy in the world.”

While there’s no release date for Triple Live quite yet, Brooks teased that more news regarding the project is coming soon, as well as a special announcement about his historic show at Notre Dame.

Ashley McBryde’s Girl Going Nowhere, featuring the title track “Girl Goin’ Nowhere,” is available everywhere now.
