With a legacy to last generations to come, Garth Brooks has rightly been named an ‘icon.’ That title will become official when the legendary performer receives the Icon Award at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards.

The BBMAs announced the news on Thursday (2/26) with a post on Facebook.

“Blame it all on his roots, he showed up in boots… to the #BBMAs! Say hello to Garth Brooks, our 2020 Icon Award recipient,” they wrote.

In addition to receiving the massive honor, Brooks is expected to perform during the live broadcast.

Brooks’ career has long been celebrated around the world, most recently with a win as Entertainer of the Year at the 2019 CMA Awards.

The three-hour telecast, hosted by Kelly Clarkson, will air live from Las Vegas on NBC on Wednesday, April 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
