He may be absent from iTunes, Spotify and YouTube, but soon, Garth Brooks will leap into the digital space with the launch of his own channel on the satellite radio network SiriusXM.

The icon called in to SiriusXM The Highway’s Storme Warren this morning (7/7) to share the news.

“I want this to be the home of kindness, to be the home of love, just like a concert. I want to take you on a roller coaster ride. I’m gonna play music,” he explained. “Hopefully the next song is going to surprise you and the song after that’s going to surprise you. We’re going to start out slow, just focus on the music, start listening to the voices that are listening to it and let them kind of sculpt where we go. So we want to build and we just want to do our thing.”

On Sept. 8, “The Garth Channel” will launch and will feature not only Brooks’ entire catalog of music, but also music from his “heroes and mentors and the new voices that are coming out, who I think are carrying the flag as well,” he told The Tennessean.

“So the logical next step now is to start moving toward how music is distributed today, through streaming and stuff,” he added. “I think the Sirius channel is the logical next step between here and there.”
