George Strait, Miranda Lambert and More Set for We’re Texas Benefit
The Matthew McConaughey-produced show will air March 21.
Some of county’s brightest stars are on deck for a special disaster-relief benefit, with George Strait, Miranda Lambert and many more set to take part in We’re Texas.
A virtual benefit concert aimed at raising money to help residents cope with the devastating cold snap that wrecked havoc on Texas’ infrastructure in February, the show will air on March 21, and it features a huge list of Texas’ biggest names.
Also appearing for the benefit are Texas natives like Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, Kelly Clarkson, the Eagles’ Don Henley, Randy Rogers, Lyle Lovett and Parker McCollum — and those are just the country artists. Others from the pop, hip hop, R&B and rock worlds will also appear, including Post Malone, Leon Bridges, Gary Clark Jr., Khalid and Kirk Franklin and others.
Meanwhile, Lonestar state celebrities like Chip and Joanna Gaines, Jennifer Garner, Selena Gomez, Megan Thee Stallion, Reneé Zellweger and more will appear, making for a truly Texas-sized benefit.
It’s all being put together by actor and Texas native Matthew McConaughey with his wife, Camilla Alves, and will be aired on McConaughey’s YouTube channel. And according to him, the money they hope to raise is desperately needed.
“A lot of Texans are hurting right now,” he told the San Antonio Current. “After the disaster of the worst freeze here in over 70 years, so many are still without clean water, and unable to repair water damage that has made their homes unlivable. The We’re Texas virtual event features an all-star lineup of Texas talent for a night to restore Texas. It’s time.”
We’re Texas will air on March 21 at 7 p.m. CT on YouTube.com/MatthewMcConaughey. All proceeds will benefit locally-focused relief organizations, distributed through McConaughey’s Just Keep Livin’ Foundation Texas Relief Fund.
