When Harry Styles announced plans for a worldwide tour, one of country music’s most acclaimed songwriters of present day was slated to join as an opening act for the U.S. leg. Taking the coveted slot on the Harry Styles: Live on Tour is Kacey Musgraves, who impressed the former One Direction member with her unique musical stylings.
The bill earned a sold-out show on Friday, June 15 during the tour’s stop in Philadelphia, PA. Fans filled the Wells Fargo Center for several hours of their favorite songs from the showman and woman.
Styles, who released his debut solo project in 2017, was ever the entertainer, singing songs from that same project, while also making fans go wild over his One Direction covers. His set list included his mega-hit “Sign of the Times,” as well as fan favorites “Sweet Creature” and “Two Ghosts.”
Musgraves herself impressed the excited crowd, sharing her ethereal voice and playful lyrics. Among her set was songs from her latest project, Golden Hour, while also showcasing favorites from previous releases.
The pairing of the two may have left people surprised initially, but there’s no doubt that after seeing the two together it only makes sense.
“With the new path that I’m forging musically, I think it really makes sense for us to be on tour together. He’s leaned a little bit toward my side of the street, and I’ve leaned a little bit more toward his side of the street,” Musgraves previously explained to Rolling Stone.
