Becoming a mother is an experience like no other, and Hayden Panettiere has allowed the life lessons she’s learned as a parent influence her overall life in a positive manner.

The Nashville star has faced the typical rollercoaster emotions that every new parent goes through and vocalized her progression as a mother to fans throughout the process. While she had to find the steady balance between both her career and her role as a parent, Panettiere admits that she finally found the support system she’s needed to lift her up when her life gets busy.

“When I first arrived [in Nashville], I remember struggling with the concept of making a place so foreign to me feel like home. I was 22, not a mom [yet] and had no one to answer to but myself,” Panettiere said in an interview with People Magazine. “Then I went through a pregnancy and I found out who my true friends were — the ones that were going to stick around and support me. I’ll just say the outcome was slim pickins!”

She finds comfort within her adopted home of Music City as she and her fiancé spend most of their time here in the music hub in order to film the show. But for Panettiere, it’s become a comfortable spot to raise her family and enjoy all the same.

“Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a blast,” Panettiere told People. “My life and who I am have simply evolved in a beautiful way. So actually Nashville feels like a first home to me!”

The latest season of Nashville will head back to television on January 5 on CMT, but fans can enjoy a special one-hour part of the season opener on Thursday, December 15, at 9 p.m. ET on CMT.
