They say luck favors the bold … but in the case of country superstar Luke Bryan, luck apparently favors those in a really big hurray.

Bryan was a recent guest on Audacy’s Rob + Holly, and told his hosts about “accidentally” winning $60,000 in less than 10 minutes on a trip to Las Vegas. Some guys just can’t help it.

On hand to talk about his side gig as a judge on ABC’s American Idol, and his recently-released docu-series on IMdB TV — Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary — the chart topper ended up getting a little sidetracked. Bryan opened up about one trip to Vegas where his main goal was actually to watch some football, but those card tables were just calling his name.

“The coolest thing I’ve ever done gambling was, we had a day off in Vegas and then I had a show the next night somewhere out West,” Luke explained. “We took a day off and the Georgia Bulldogs were playing at like, 12 noon. Well, I go down and I wanted to play a few hands of Blackjack, and then I wanted to stop and go sit at a bar and watch my Georgia Bulldogs play.

“I get down there [at the Blackjack table] at like 11:30 am, and I know I don’t have much time,” Bryan went on. “I sit down and I won 14 hands in a row and I won $60,000 in 14 hands!”

That is a hot streak to beat all hot streaks! Bryan must have kept betting his winnings over and over, and it actually sounds like the affable Georgia native felt kind of bad about it afterward.

“I did not mean to win that much money, I just, it happened,” Bryan told his hosts. “I sat down and the first card, I just started winning. I think it was six total minutes, I won 60 grand, I got up and then I went and just watched my Georgia Bulldogs.”

While it seems pretty unlikely that anything close to that will happen again, Luke Bryan will get a few more chances — should he like to test his luck. He recently wrapped his Proud to Be Right Here Tour, and his first-ever Las Vegas residency starts up February 11, 2022, with a series of shows as The Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas. Season 20 of American Idol is also set to return early next year, likely in February.
