High Valley’s Trip To Australia Was ‘Out Of This World’

Said Curtis, "The fans there were honestly out of this world, like so enthusiastic, so loud, and just screaming the lyrics back at us even to, like, deep album cuts and stuff."

It seems like no matter in which corner of the earth you live, good music is good music. High Valley got a glimpse of that when they took songs from their U.S. debut album, Dear Life, on a trip around the world and experienced what very few other performers get to.

The duo, comprised of brothers Brad and Curtis Rempel, went on a worldwide expedition, playing shows in Germany, Scotland, England and Australia during a complete circumnavigation of the planet. The journey was an exciting one for the duo, who got to see a glimpse of their music resonating with fans worldwide.

“Honestly, it was so good,” recalled Curtis of their trip during a phone interview with Sounds Like Nashville. “We went to Australia for the first time, and the fans there were honestly out of this world, like so enthusiastic, so loud, and just screaming the lyrics back at us even to, like, deep album cuts and stuff. It was ridiculous.”

Seeing the reaction from fans around the world, especially Australia, was an eye-opening experience for both Curtis and his brother Brad, who hadn’t expected the engaged response they received.

“Considering the fact that it was our first time in Australia, there’s no really good reason for them to know our music,” shared Curtis. “It’s a hard thing to comprehend. I remember playing in our hometown and hoping that one day we could play at this festival that was like 100 miles, 200 miles down the road, and then one day we played at that festival, and we were wondering what’s next, you know? We gotta set new goals, and now it’s just like the whole world seems to be catching on, and it’s crazy. It’s hard to believe.”

The success of their trip left Curtis craving a return down under to spend more time in the country that had made him feel so at home.

“I’ve always dreamed of going through the outback, seeing Ayers Rock in the middle of Australia, and seeing wild kangaroos and koalas,” he said. “I really want to bring my family there one day. My kids are four and one right now, so when they’re a little more around the 10-year-old mark, maybe we can make a family trip out of it; something that they’ll remember.”

The duo is now back stateside and show no signs of slowing down for their ever-growing fan base. Their current U.S. single, “She’s With Me,” is in the Top 10 at country radio and climbing. The track recently got an acoustic makeover for a project called Farmhouse Sessions, with High Valley re-recording songs from Dear Life for an acoustic project.
