Hootie & The Blowfish will release a new album of music, marking their first original project in nearly 15 years. Dubbed Imperfect Circle, the record is set for release on November 1 via Universal Music Group Nashville.

“Finding the right name is always the most fun for us,” explained Jim Sonefeld in a video about the album. “We sat around the studio for six months throwing out names that are just dumb, funny, perverse or whatever, and that’s part of the fun we’ve always had is giving album titles that aren’t really going to be the album titles.”

Added Darius Rucker, “‘Perfect Circle’ is an R.E.M. song that we all love a lot. I said ‘Perfect Circle’ and we all thought that was a great name, but then we thought ‘Imperfect Circle’ was a better name.”

The group, comprised of Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber and Sonefeld, reunited in late 2018, sharing plans for new music and a nationwide tour.

“We were content playing clubs and small theaters, so playing to three-, four- and five-times that size was incredible, and we’re looking forward to that feeling again on this tour,” Sonefeld shared with TODAY at the time.

Added Bryan, “There’s nothing like playing music live. For the first time in nearly 20 years we’ll be coming back to Columbia, South Carolina where it all began,” with Rucker adding, “And we’re ready to rock.”
