Introducing…Adam Sanders

Adam Sanders Final

Meet Adam Sanders. This Lake City, Florida native moved to Nashville in 2009 to pursue his dream of becoming a singer/songwriter. Since then, he’s landed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music and has earned cuts on albums from Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Cole Swindell, and Chase Rice.

Now that he’s established himself as a songwriter, Sanders is ready to make a name for himself as a solo artist with the release of his debut single, “Nothin’ To Do But Drink.”

We recently caught up with Adam to chat about his single, what it’s like seeing his buddies make it in the industry, and much more. Check it out below.

CMIL: Who are some of your musical inspirations?
AS: Through the years I’ve had tons of artist from all different types of genres that I’ve looked up to to help build what I feel like is my own sound but my childhood Hero would have to be Alan Jackson. As a kid, all I wanted to sing were Alan songs, and truly believe he was the one that inspired me to chase my dream.

CMIL: What’s the story behind your debut single, “Nothin’ To Do But Drink?”
AS: Well, Nothin’ To Do But Drink is a song I wrote with two of my buddies Jaron Boyer, and Matt Bronleewe. I remember having the title in my phone for a couple weeks and knew the idea could be great if it was done right… When we went in to write it, I just remember how real each line seemed to me. Growing up in small town in North Florida there was literally Nothing To Do But Drink.

CMIL: It’s been played on The Highway quite a bit – how did you react the first time you heard it on the radio?
AS: Man, the first time I heard it I was actually in Nashville getting ready to play a show with my buddy Charlie Worsham at 3rd and Lindsley. After soundcheck, me and my guitar player jumped in the truck to run down to my publishing company to change and right as we were pulling in it came on. Hearing my song for the first time on a station like The Highway that’s helped so many artists’ careers is a feeling that I’ll never be able to describe. All I can say is THANK YOU!

CMIL: Some of your buddies have seen a lot of success lately – how has that prepared you for your solo career?
AS: I definitely think that its helped me a ton and still is today. Not many artist get to sit back and watch their close friends go through the struggles of being a new artist.. I’m just thankful to have friends like Cole (Swindell), Chase (Rice), and Dustin (Lynch) that believe in me and my music and truly want to help me succeed.

CMIL: What’s next for you – Are you working on an EP? Album? If so, what can fans expect from it?
AS: Well, we’re in the studio right now having a blast recording. When I’m not there or out on the road playing shows, I’m in town writing my butt off. Our main focus right now though is the single and know that its a one step at a time process.

CMIL: What’s on your country music bucket list as an artist?
AS: Ha, I started singing when I was 3 or 4 years old and always knew, even that early on, that this was all I’ve ever wanted to do so needless to say I have more than a few.
But some of my tops would be:
Sign a record deal
Have a #1 song
Write/sing a song with Alan Jackson
And the big one, Win Entertainer Of The Year someday
