Introducing… Brinley Addington

Brinley Addington- CountryMusicIsLove

Brinley Addington is a name you may not know, but not one you will soon forget. Hailing from Kingsport, TN, Addington has been hard at work making a name for himself as a singer-songwriter in Nashville. Since 2007, Addington has been on the road opening for the likes of Chris Young, Josh Turner, The Band Perry, Justin Moore, Eli Young Band, Florida Georgia Line and many more.

CountryMusicIsLove recently caught up with Brinley to discuss his influences, who he’d like to tour with, and his new single, “Better On A Boat,” which is available today.

CMIL: Which artist (or artists) inspire you?

BA: I’m inspired by artists who are great singers and performers. People who can do what they can do in the studio in a live setting and really entertain people. I’d list Eric Church, Chris Young, Josh Turner, and Brad Paisley as a few of those folks.

CMIL: Would you say your music is influenced by anyone in particular?

BA: Tons of people have had an impact on me as an artist. From other artists I listened to growing, to people I’ve met on the road or talked to in different situations, and my friends and family.

CMIL: If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?

BA: I’d love to tour with Brad Paisley. I’ve seen a lot of his shows and they’re a lot of fun. His fans are amazing and I’d love to see what that’s like.

CMIL: If you weren’t pursuing a career in Country music, what would you be doing?

BA: I don’t think I’d do anything else. I’ve never wanted to do anything but sing and write songs, so this is pretty much it for me.

CMIL: Can you tell us about the single, “Better On A Boat?” Did you have a hand in writing it?

BA: “Better on a Boat” is a fun, summer song I co-wrote the tune with my buddy Chris Cavanaugh. It’s basically how most things you do are better when you do them on a boat.

CMIL: Can you tell us about your #BetterOnABoat campaign? What has the response been like?

BA: This campaign basically came from me saying, “What’s the most random, eye catching thing I can do.” I thought it would be funny to grab a bunch of different photos of people on boats or fishing and throw them out there. I love being on the water and wanted to show that I’m not the only one.

CMIL: What’s next for you? Are you working on an album?

BA: I’ve been in the studio working on new music for several months now. I’m really excited about the new songs and it has been awesome to have Chris Young and Anthony Smith producing this project. I’ve really learned a lot from those guys and am excited to share this new music with everybody. “Better On A Boat” is the first song off the new record.
