It’s been a long haul for the guys of High Valley, but just recently, the brothers released their major label debut album Dear Life. While the help of their new label has been immense for Brad and Curtis Rempel, the duo has looked to their fans for a great deal of support and insight when he came to choosing songs for the project.

“We’ve always tried to have our fans as involved as possible, whether that was like picking my shoes for an awards show or if we’re trying to decide what t-shirt to print for our tour, we’d have them vote on that kind of stuff,” Curtis told Sounds Like Nashville. “Then when we were cutting the album, we were just like ‘we’ve got all of these fans in our fan club, why don’t we ask them what they want to hear?’ So we let them hear a bunch of our demos and ‘Make You Mine’ was right at the top of the list, in first place, by a long shot. Everybody loved that song.”

The thought of sharing new music with fans has always been daunting but something the duo knew they wanted to do.

“We used to be so nervous when we had a new record coming out because the big question was ‘will people like this or not? Will our fans like this or not?’ And now, it’s the exact opposite,” explained Brad.

“We’re nervous when we send them all our demos and then once they pick what they want, we just do it and it’s more like giving them a present. It’s like ‘here’s what you asked for.’”

Their relationship with fans has been a key ingredient in getting their music out to an even wider audience, including an international one. The duo plans on exploring more of those overseas areas in 2017 and bringing Dear Life to the masses.
