Introducing… Jon Langston: Part 2

Jon Langston didn’t always have his sights on moving to Nashville and a career in country music. Despite a fun time with his 8th grade buddies in their “ridiculous” band, the Georgia native decided to pursue football and even earned a scholarship to play in college. However, a laundry list of injuries quickly sidelined his sports career…

“Throughout high school, I played ball. I got a scholarship to play up in North Carolina,” Langston told Sounds Like Nashville. “I played linebacker, full backs, so it’s constant head-to-head hitting and I finally had my last straw of concussions and they said, ‘no more.’”

The ex-footballer suddenly had more free time and decided to pick up the guitar.

“I had a lot of extra time left on my hands and one summer, I just started playing and learning on YouTube,” he explained. “Then I started playing at parties and stuff. I started writing my own songs and kept progressing.”

This is the second week of our “Introducing…” series with Jon Langston. See what else the rising star had to say about his decision to pursue music and why his choice didn’t sit well with his mother (at first).

Tune in every Wednesday morning in January at 11/10c for “Introducing… Jon Langston.”
