Introducing… Sister C

Sister C

Sister C is a group that you’re going to want to keep on your radar. Produced by Lee Brice, the sister trio, made up of Celbi, Carli and Cirby, is finally ready to share their music with the world.

Some fans may recognize the group from FOX’s The X Factor back in 2012, when they were contestants. But now, the group has made the move from their native Texas to Nashville, TN and is releasing a brand new five-song EP. The EP features their new single, “Faint of Heart,” which is now spinning on Sirius XM’s The Highway.

We caught up with Sister C to get to know them a bit. Check out our Q&A below.

Was music always a big part of your lives?

Celbi: Definitely! If we weren’t out bouncing around the bars and honky tonks, where our dad was singing, we were piled up in our rooms listening through stacks of CD’s of anyone from, Merle Haggard to Celine Dion.

When did you decide that you wanted to pursue a career in country music? Was there one moment that just solidified that decision for you?

Cirby: I think we always knew that we wanted to pursue a career in music. For us, it was more about timing. Once we all graduated from high school, we moved out of town together and became more serious about becoming a trio. The rest is history!

Was there ever a time that any of you wanted to be a solo act, or did you always know you’d be performing together?

Cirby: I actually began singing as a solo act throughout my early years of college, while waiting for Celbi & Carli to get out of school. It was almost immediately after we moved in with each other, that we decided to take this thing to a different level.

Who are some of your influences?

Sisters: Patsy Cline, Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Merle [Haggard], Willie [Nelson], Waylon [Jennings], Beth Hart, BB King, Kelly Willis, Patty Griffin, Nikki Lane, Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, and the list goes on & on! We really love any kind of music, from the past to the present.

Who are some acts that you look up to and why?

Carli: The Dixie Chicks are definitely a group that we grew up listening to and looking up to. We learned a lot from their harmonies and we can only hope to create music that lasts a lifetime, as they did. Timeless melodies.
Miranda Lambert for her spirit and spunk, on and off stage. She has captured a lot of hearts and fans just by being real, and we look up to her a lot for that.

How would you describe your music to fans?

Cirby: Witty, fun, pushing limit lyrics, with a lot of sass behind three sister harmonies!

What’s the story behind your single?

Celbi: “Faint of Heart” – We love this song! We wrote it with Victoria Banks and we believe it will hit home with every female out there! It’s the perfect balance of empowering women while not bashing men at the same time. Being a woman truly ain’t for the faint of heart, am I right??

How does it feel to have your EP finished? What was that process like?

Celbi: As Lee Brice always says, “the music is never truly finished.” There’s always room for improvement here and there, but if you get to a point where everything feels right, you got to move on and create some more!

What was it like working with Lee Brice? (He is one of the nicest guys EVER, right?!)

Carli: Lee is a beast! We’ve really established such an amazing relationship with him & his entire family. We adore his beautiful wife, Sara, and we love to babysit his handsome little boys. It’s truly been a blessing to have him put us under his wing, and believe in us as artists.

What’s on your country music “bucket list” as an artist?

Cirby: WORLD TOUR, WORLD TOUR, WORLD TOUR!

Who is your dream tour mate and why?

Carli: LEE BRICE! Because we’ve been on the road with him before, and we’ve been those screaming fans in his crowds before…. IT’S A BLAST! He puts on one hell of a show, and we would love to be a part of that!

Tell us more about the Blue Room Sessions. (We’re premiering one below!)

Celbi: The Blue Room Sessions are just a cool way to invite our fans into our home, and allow them to get a very raw, stripped down version of some of our favorite new tunes.
