During the month of May, we’re introducing you to rising country trio Temecula Road.

The trio is comprised of sisters Maddie and Emma Salute and friend Dawson Anderson, all hailing from Temecula, CA. While the three have only been a group for about a year, they’ve had quite a bit of notoriety, even winning a songwriting competition.

Temecula Road won for their song “Paper or Plastic,” and their prize was to have the song professionally produced and put on iTunes.

“We just wrote that one in like… how many hours was it? Like seven hours or something like that,” Emma said of the track.

The original idea for the song shifted and molded during those few hours, changing shape until its final result.

“‘Paper or Plastic was actually supposed to be ‘Cash or Credit.’ And then it turned into me being a bag boy. Like paper bag or plastic bag. We just wanted something that was kind of like a saying or an idiom that would kind of go with the love story idea,” explained Dawson.

Agreed Maddie, “It took awhile though to come up with that idea.”
