Country newcomer Jacob Davis is putting strong relationships and love to the forefront in the music video for his debut single, “What I Wanna Be.” The three-minute clip follows a couple as they meet in a bar and develop feelings for one another over time.

“I think… this is what a guy oughta say to a girl…” Davis told the audience at his Grand Ole Opry debut of the funky track before heading into the lyrics, “I don’t want to be just another thing that you think about when you think about love gone wrong / I ain’t into being the reason that the tears fall when you hear another sad, sad song,”

The Josh Kranich-directed video was filmed in Davis’ home state of Louisiana. While the couple grows into their undeniable chemistry, Davis gets hips shaking and heads bobbing during his cut-ins filmed in the live music venue Bamboula’s.

“What I Wanna Be” was written by Davis, Forest Glen Whitehead and Adam Hambrick and is the lead single from Davis’ upcoming full-length debut album.
