Jake Owen Hits The Road, Makes Touring a Family Affair
Spending time on the road isn’t anything new for Jake Owen, but this time around he’s going to need a little bit more room. The star behind imminent summer anthem “Beachin'” set out on tour recently, this time with wife Lacey and 1-year-old daughter Pearl in tow. The country star recently told People about the fun of having his family traveling with the tour.
“I used to be a little lonely out on the road sometimes,” Owen told the publication. “You go from town to town–you’re not out there long enough to get to know anybody. You feel like you’re there long enough just to say goodbye. Now, having my family go with me everywhere I go, it’s like having home with me wherever I am.”
Owen also talked about the fun of a family routine, and how it fits into his schedule day-of-show.
“Sometimes before the show, we’ll give her a bath and put her to sleep, and that’s great to do that kind of thing,” he said. “It’s also hard. As fun as it is to have my wife and kid on the road … it’s still my job.”
Owen will certainly be putting his share of hours on the job this summer, and then some: with over 50 dates on the tour and shows in cities all over the country, fans will be able to get a taste of the coast no matter where they call home.
“Our tour is really based around me being from Florida and kinda bringing the sunshine wherever we go to,” he explained. “We’re starting off in South Dakota so it’s pretty chilly there, so it’ll be nice to kinda bring a vibe there that makes it feel like they can get away to the beach for a little bit.”
