Jake Owen Scores Ninth Number One With ‘Made For You’

Jake Owen’s deeply personal single “Made For You” is the top song this week, climbing all the way to Number One on the Billboard Country Airplay and Country Aircheck/Mediabase charts. The ascent marks the Florida native’s ninth time in the peak position at country radio.

“Rounding out this album with a 3rd #1 is something I am so proud of,” Owen shared with Billboard. “I chose Big Loud Records as my partner because I know what they are capable of. I knew they could take me and my music to another level. Working with the BLR team and especially Joey Moi is a huge advantage and I’m very thankful for them.

“I am also so proud of the songwriters on this song. Neil Medley, Joey Hyde, and Benjy Davis… It’s their first #1 song as writers,” he continued. “These moments are so special and I’m fortunate to be a small part of it. Finally, I’m thankful for country radio for supporting this song, and my career for all these years. We have great champions out there at radio and this is a testament to that. I love country music. I’m living a dream.”

The sentimental track has an equally lovely music video, with Owen highlighting his fiancée Erica Hartlein and daughters, Paris and Pearl. Intermixed with his own home movies and photos are videos of fans and their love stories. The song also made a nationwide impression when Owen performed it on ABC’s The Bachelorette.

Owen will likely celebrate his chart-topper at home with Harlein and Paris after the two-year-old spend several days (including her birthday) in the hospital. While the doting dad didn’t reveal what prompted her stay, he did thank fans for their well-wishes while she recovered.

“Thanks to everyone who’s been asking about Paris. She’s feeling a lot better and on the mend. It’s night night time. Her head on my shoulder, til her eyes get heavy. That’s the good stuff,” he wrote.”

“Made For You” is the fourth single from Owen’s album Greetings From… Jake. The project features fellow Number Ones “Homemade” and “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” and the Top 5 fan-favorite “Down to the Honkytonk.” He also recently made his acting debut alongside Dakota Johnson, Jason Segel and Casey Affleck in the film Just Friends.
