Jake Owen officially switched over to the hottest trend in real estate, known as tiny houses.

After wanting to sell his massive home in Tennessee for a new property, the country singer ended up swapping out open area for quaint charm when he decided that the next best step was settling on a tiny home. Going from a place with more than 4,000 square feet to divide between to a fraction of the size, Owen has adjusted to his downsize lifestyle just fine.

“I’m not lying to you,” Owen said while talking on The Bobby Bones Show. “It’s 400 square feet. And I love it!”

This wasn’t always in Owen’s plan though. At first, he just wanted to get his property out on the market and persuade a few interested buyers to take a chance. Within a matter of days, the Florida native received an offer he couldn’t refuse and had to move out rather immediately. He didn’t seem to mind, though, once he purchased his own pint-size abode.

“What happened is, I sold my house, not thinking I was going to sell it that fast. I put it on the market on a Monday, and it sold on a Wednesday. [The buyers] wanted to be in basically by Christmas,” he explained about the big, or rather, small move.

As someone who spends a lot of their time out traveling for tours, it seems like a great decision for Owen to maximize the space he has now rather than waste all that land he never gets to hang out on.

Besides the news about his tiny home, Owen also just released a new single to radio called “I Was Jack (You Were Diane),” which fans can listen to now.
