It’s been nearly three years since Jamie Lynn Spears released her first single, “How Could I Want More,” to country radio. Since then, Spears has been working hard on her craft as a singer and songwriter, even getting a single cut with “I Got The Boy” on Jana Kramer’s album thirty one.

Spears is ready to release her own original music, having just announced the first single from the project, “Sleepover.”

“I’m so excited. I feel like I’ve been holding a secret for a year which is extremely hard for me,” Spears told Sounds Like Nashville recently. “I’ve been working really hard to create the new music but also to create some content for my fans to kind of make them a part of the story, so it’s taken a little more time, but I think it’ll be worth it in the end. So I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with everyone.”

The song was born from a writers retreat she attended with several other female songwriters.

“The song came from a girl’s writing retreat, where it was a bunch of us female writers went down to the beach and it really set the tone for the new music that I’m creating. It really gave me an idea of what I wanted to say and what I wanted the theme of the new music to be.”

“Sleepover” is the lead single from Spears upcoming project.

Fans will get to see the making of Jamie Lynn’s new music when her one-hour specialJamie Lynn Spears: When The Lights Go Out, airs on TLC. The hour-long special will also give new insight into the actress/singer’s life as she balances family with her budding career.
