Jason Aldean teamed up with ’80s rocker Bryan Adams to cover the classic ballad “Heaven” at the 2022 CMT Music Awards, finding the promised land of love on rainy Nashville streets.

Reprising of their CMT Crossroads appearance from 2014, the pair teamed up for their performance outside Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, singing to a soggy but solid audience on Lower Broadway. With the rain pouring down and neon lights from the famous honky tonks shining, they turned in one of the night’s emotional highs. Both clad in black leather jackets, Aldean and Adams traded verses and shared the big-hearted chorus, with the crowd swaying happily under tarps and panchos. They ended shouting to the “heavens” in unison as the rain continued to come down, underscoring the “all that I need” anthem’s theme, and leaving fans on cloud nine.

Aldean’s new solo version of “Heaven” is featured on his recent Macon, Georgia album, and the superstar is coming off his 26th Number One single, “If I Didn’t Love You.” Aldean and Underwood celebrated the searing hot power ballad with a swanky Nashville party last week, and it was nominated for multiple CMT Music Awards, including the night’s top prize, Video of the Year. The Georgia native is also featured on another new collab, the beat-driven “Rolex On a Redneck” by Brantley Gilbert.

The 2022 CMT Music Awards aired live from Nashville on CBS, marking the first time the genre’s only fan-voted awards show was broadcast on network television. The night was co-hosted by Kelsea Ballerini, actor Anthony Mackie and last-minute addition Kane Brown after Ballerini tested positive for COVID-19. Featuring a stacked lineup of featured performers, this year’s event also included Carrie Underwood, Gabby Barrett and Miranda Lambert, plus collaborations between Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson, Jimmie Allen, Monica and Little Big Town, Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd, and many more.
