Jason Aldean’s ‘Take A Little Ride’ Poised for Big Chart Debut

Superstar Jason Aldean released his highly anticipated new single to country radio and iTunes last Monday. The song, “Take A Little Ride,” is cruising its way up the charts – both at country radio and the digital singles chart.

Many country radio stations were playing the song every hour early last week. Although it was still a bit early to tell, many industry insiders suspect that the song will debut in the top 15 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs radio chart.

Just a short time after “Take A Little Ride” was released online, the song shot to No.1 on the iTunes all-genre chart, surpassing pop sensations Katy Perry and Flo Rida. If sales continued strong all week, insiders believe that Aldean could top 200,000 downloads, which would make it the biggest debut ever for a digital song by a male country artist. If Aldean earns the title, he would be ousting Scotty McCreery’s “I Love You This Big,” which sold 171,000 during the week it was released.

“I think this is the first time we’ve ever put a song up on iTunes the same day we released it to radio. The song’s been out a day, and we’re sitting at number one on iTunes, which is a big deal,” he told Billboard last week. “If we can hold that for a few weeks, that would be really nice.”

The singer, who has seven No. 1s under his belt, says he never takes reaching the top for granted.

“Not at all,” he told the magazine. “You never know which song may be your last one. ‘Why’ was our first number one, and it seemed like it was about three years until we had another. I learned early not to not take them for granted, and just enjoy them.”

“Take A Little Ride” is the lead single from Aldean’s forthcoming fifth studio album.
