Jennifer Nettles has always led somewhat of a gypsy life. Life as a musical artist leaves one spending many days and nights out on the road, with a rare moment at home. Now, Nettles is a mom of 4-year-old Magnus, but not much of her life has changed. The Georgia native is still spending much of her time out on the road, but this time, she’s got her boy by her side.

“He will have definitely had practice and experience in transition, that is for sure, in terms of just this lifestyle and how you know when you’re in one place, a different place every day you get a lot of opportunity to practice that. Adaptability. Here’s hoping that that will be a skill that he will garner from this life experience for sure,” she explained of his vagabond upbringing.

Nettles has always been quick to share about her son’s life, opening up about his first steps and his love for music.

“He tends to be really drawn to the drums, which I think a lot of kids are first anyways because rhythm and melody are really the only two parts of music, when you think primally. So, he loves the drums, but he also has fun on the piano,” she said previously. “I’ll see where he, you know, where his interests really lie as he continues to get older…and he loves to sing, and he loves for me to sing. He’s heard it since I was on the road when I was pregnant with him. So, he’s heard it his whole life and even before, and still I rock him and sing to him. So…he loves it.”

Magnus may soon add stamps to his passport when his mom sets course for the United Kingdom and Ireland in the spring. There, she will play the international C2C: Country 2 Country festival from March 10-12.
