Jennifer Nettles is one-half of the band Sugarland and a country powerhouse in her own right, but she’s also an expert performer on both stage and screen. The singer will meld her talents together for a new project celebrating some of the best songs from American musicals. Set for release on June 25, Nettles will debut a new album called “Always Like New,” a project that revisits Broadway and puts a new twist on the classics.

“As a child who grew up in musical theater, this album feels like a homecoming to me. I savored every note of singing and arranging these songs with Alex Lacamoire,” shared the songstress in a press release. “It is thrilling to be able to celebrate this amazing songwriting with arrangements and vocals that allow them to be rediscovered anew.”

According to a press release, the album will feature songs from My Fair Lady, Oklahoma!, Hamilton and Guys and Dolls. Fans can get a preview of Always Like New with “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ The Boat” from the latter musical.

Nettles teamed up with Tony-winning musical orchestrator Alex Lacamoire, who is best known for their work on Hamilton, In The Heights and Dear Evan Hansen. The Georgia native also collaborated with longtime musical friend Brandi Carlile on a song from The Bridges of Madison County.

The release of an album of songs from Broadway isn’t too far a stretch for Nettles. She previously starred as Roxie Hart in Chicago on New York’s famed avenue in 2015. She also has acting credits in Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, Harriet and more.
