It was a whirlwind eight-week adventure for country star Jimmie Allen, who shimmied his way into the hearts of fans all across the nation on Season 30 of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. But sadly, that journey is now over, as the singer-songwriter was eliminated from the show Monday (November 8).

Departing along with his professional-dancer partner, Emma, Allen was knocked out of competition on “Janet Jackson night,” having delivered two stellar performances … it just wasn’t quite enough.

Allen kicked his night off with a golden cha-cha, dancing to Jackson’s new-wave favorite, “Escapade,” and letting his glittering cowboy boots glide across the floor. The judges ultimately decided it wasn’t his best work, however, and that forced the team into a dance-off with Olympic gymnast, Suni Lee.

Pitting the two couples against each other on the same dance floor, Allen and Lee were both set to dance a salsa, and the competition was fierce. Twirling to “Made For Now (Latin Version)” by Jackson and Daddy Yankee, Allen and Emma even seemed to have the momentum at the end, but could not secure a win.

It’s sad news for the “Freedom Was a Highway” singer, but he gave it his … ahem, “Best Shot.” And besides, the hit maker still has plenty to look forward to. Jimmie Allen will perform on the 55th Annual CMA Awards tomorrow (November 10) at 8/7c on ABC, and he and his wife have a newborn daughter named Zara to keep them occupied.
