John Prine is in critical condition due to complications from coronavirus, his family shared in a statement on Sunday (3/29). The family came together to share that Prine is in the hospital and his situation is serious.

“After a sudden onset of COVID-19 symptoms, John was hospitalized on Thursday (3/26). He was intubated Saturday evening, and continues to receive care, but his condition is critical,” the statement read.

This is hard news for us to share,” it continued. “But so many of you have loved and supported John over the years, we wanted to let you know, and give you the chance to send on more of that love and support him now. And know that we love you, and John loves you.”

The news of Prine’s condition comes within hours of the devastating announcement that fellow country legend Joe Diffie passed from the worldwide pandemic.
