Georgia native and rising country star Jon Langston is making a name for himself as one of Nashville’s hottest new live performers. His live show is so good, in fact, that fans packed the house at Marathon Music Works to capacity on Friday, August 30 ahead of the holiday weekend to catch the “Now You Know” singer.
The show was the official kick-off to Langston’s highly-anticipated Bird Dog Tour, the name of his fan club, which was decided on by fans. To kick off the festivities and give back to those passionate fans, Langston held his first ever Bird Dog Club, a pre-show party that let fans mix and mingle with the budding superstar.
We caught up with the crooner ahead of his show to see the ins-and-outs of what goes into planning a headlining tour. See what Langston had to say about the trek and check out photos from his sold-out show in Nashville below:
You’ve been able to tour with some of country music’s biggest stars so early in your career. What does that mean to you to have their mentorship?
Yeah, Luke Bryan and Cole Swindell are great mentors and buddies to learn from and they are great with showing me the ropes of how a big tour works!
What are you taking from those experiences to your own live show?
Watching Luke control a crowd of many thousands every night is incredible. I’m taking notes side stage and taking those notes to my own live show, like what to say in between transitions to keep the fans engaged and [having] no dull moments.
Have you received any advice from other artists, like Luke and Cole, that you’ll take on the road with you?
Luke has always told me just to have fun and to really enjoy it and to take in every minute because it goes so fast.
The tour kick-off was in Nashville (and SOLD OUT)! What was that experience like?
Unreal! So thankful for the fans that come to these shows and spend their hard earned money to see our show! It means the world to me and especially my first headlining show in Nashville to be sold out was a dream come true!
What are you most excited about being the headliner?
I love being able to play all my older songs and all new the songs. It’s good to give the fans what they want to hear in the headlining slot!
What can fans expect from your live show?
It’s in your face, it’s rowdy, it’s just a good time with lots of energy! Me and the band like to rock out!
Is there anything you’re excited to do in any of the cities you’ll be visiting when you’re not on stage?
I’m really looking forward to going to the UGA game the weekend we play Athens, GA AT THE Georgia Theatre 2 nights back to back!
Is there a venue that you’re most looking forward to playing?
Coyote Joe’s in Charlotte is always one of my favorite places to play! I went to college 30 minutes from there. I have a lot of good college memories from that place!
Do you have any pre-show rituals?
A prayer and a huddle breakdown with my band. “BE ONE”
Your fan base has grown exponentially over the years – what does it mean to you to have their support, especially so early in your career?
It’s incredible and I’m so grateful for those fans! They have had my back for years and they continue to spread the word and make new fans! I’m very lucky to have such a great support system that allows me to do what I love! Here’s to the future… we got a long ways to go!
