Live concerts have only barely gotten back underway, but country star Jon Pardi has already been forced off the road.

The “Tequila Little Time” singer has been ordered by a doctor to go on vocal rest, and the rest of his June concerts have been rescheduled as a result.

The sad news comes just as country artists begin returning to the road following loosened COVID-19 restrictions. Pardi has performed a few shows over the last month or so — including a live-streamed concert at The Bonnarroo Farm in Tennessee over Memorial Day weekend. But after a year off the road, jumping right back to his old ways may have been too much for his voice to handle.

“For the first time in my life I have been ordered by the doctor to go on vocal rest and it is NOT EASY!!!” Pardi shared on social media, looking glum and holding a sheet of paper with a frowny face written on it. “All shows through End of June will be rescheduled. We really appreciate the support and understanding. I promise to do my part and stay as healthy as possible to continue singing and performing. Sorry for the inconvenience. See you in July!”

Plenty of Pardi’s country-singing friends felt his dissappointment, commenting on the post to share their condolences. Kane Brown summed it up best, writing “WE JUST STARTED! but also why this happened I’m sorry bud.” Cole Swindell, Brothers Osborne’s TJ Osborne and more shared get-well messages. And Dierks Bentley offered a pure-country message of sympathy.

“Lonesome fiddle blues bro. Hate this for ya,” Bentley wrote.

Pardi’s next concert appearance will now be a two-night stand in Durant, Oklahoma, on July 1-2, and he’s got a full slate of mostly fair and festival dates lined up through the fall. His mariachi-flavored single, “Tequila Little Time,” is out now, and Jon Pardi is also featured on the Lauren Alaina duet, “Getting Over Him.” The good friends recently performed their fun-loving track on the 2021 CMT Music Awards.
