Julia Cole Releases Flirty New Song, ‘Do You Mind’

Julia Cole is making the first move in a new romance in her new song, “Do You Mind,” premiering on Sounds Like Nashville today (9/2). The Texas-born singer employs clever songwriting and smooth production to tell a story in which she persuades a new love interest, who was getting ready to close out his tab at a bar, to keep the night going just a little bit longer with her.

“Do you mind if I change your mind / Baby I’m feeling like / We could hit the bar in the back / Order up two more on my tab / If you got other plans, honey, I understand / But I just walked in and I’m wondering / Do you mind if I change your mind,” she sings in the chorus.

The song’s confident lyrics are only compounded by Cole’s strong voice, as she sets the scene of a never-ending night. The story is set to unique production, featuring country instrumentals and R&B elements, which was created by producers Cole and Josh Ronen.

“Do You Mind is a much-needed fun and empowering counter-story to the classic ‘boy-hits-on-girl’ country music narrative,” Cole told Sounds Like Nashville.  “This track empowers the woman to take the first step, make the first move, and know she is worth it. This is an R&B Country sound, unlike anything anyone’s heard. It’s smooth, sexy, and makes you want to move.”

“Do You Mind” follows Cole’s 2019 debut single, “Trust You,” and her EP, Honey Child, released in April. The song’s theme of female empowerment is in keeping with Cole’s work to promote self-confidence in women. She has demonstrated her passion for this cause through a partnership with athletic wear company, Mizuno, which aims to empower female athletes.
