The vivid story of “Jolene” will soon come to life on the small screen as Netflix prepares to debut the first episode of Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings in 2019. As part of an eight-episode series, Jolene will tell the story of a friendship built between two women who find themselves as part of a love triangle and begin to impact one another’s lives in big ways.

Filmed in Atlanta, the episode will star Julianne Hough (Grease: Live!, Footloose) as the titular character. According to Deadline, Jolene is a flirty free-spirit who hopes to escape her small town of Coventry, GA for big city dreams as a singer/songwriter.

Playing opposite of Hough will be Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Nashville, According to Jim) as Emily, a wife and mother who is starting as the president of the Coventry’s Women’s League.

Parton will also make a guest appearance in the story as Babe, the owner of Baby Blues, a local honky tonk. She takes on a motherly role towards her scantily-clad waitresses, with Jolene closest to her heart.

Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings will feature both new and classic music from the iconic singer. Each episode will feature an introduction from Parton, who will explain the meaning of each song, and a different cast.

The series is expected to debut on Netflix in 2019.
