Kacey Musgraves sat down on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for her “first late-night chat” on Wednesday (November 20), and while the demure Grammy winner has quickly become a massive star, Fallon took her right back to her earliest days onstage.

Musgraves and her host started out talking Grammy wins — which were “absolute insanity,” according to the country star — and her undying love of Dolly Parton, who’s Dollywood theme park she visited for her bachelorette party a few years back.

The appearance was really about Musgraves upcoming Christmas special on Amazon Prime — “I’m a triple threat now,” she joked, “Dancing, singing, there’s comedy bits, acting … I have a lot of special guests, it’s kind of my take on the old-school Judy Garland Christmas /Cher type thing.”

But first, she told Fallon the story of teaming up with Willie Nelson on the recent CMA Awards for a duet of “The Rainbow Connection” — the heartwarming Kermit the Frog classic which the Texan said was one of the first songs she ever learned. Lucky for us, Fallon had the proof of that claim, showing a vintage clip of 9-year-old Musgraves singing it onstage.

Check it out above, and catch The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show when it premieres on Amazon Prime November 29.
