Country star Kane Brown is adding “label executive” to his already-impressive resume, as the “Cool Again” hit maker launches his very own record label. Announcing 1021 Entertainment as a joint venture with Sony Music Nashville, Brown and his team are hoping to break some new country talent — and they’re getting started with a band named Restless Road.
Featured as one of Sounds Like Nashville’s 17 New Country Artists to Watch in 2021, Restless Road is a harmony-loving trio with a punchy, country-rock sound, made up of Zach Beeken, Colton Pack and Garrett Nichols. And their new boss says they’re getting the benefit of all his chart-topping experience.

“I want to give people chances to succeed,” Brown says in a press statement. “With 1021 Entertainment, I feel like we have a platform and team that can mentor and build up talent in country music. With my own label, I want to use it as an opportunity to shape and promote artists that may not have gotten a chance otherwise, for Restless Road and others in the future.”
The trio are introducing themselves with the up-tempo “Took One Look At Her Momma,” a smitten romantic anthem with a lighthearted core, co-written by the band with Lindsay Rimes and Andy Albert. The track was inspired by some real life advice given to Nichols by his dad, and it’s the follow up to a self-titled EP that came out in 2020.
“The song stemmed from a really entertaining conversation my dad and I had where he was, basically sharing fatherly wisdom on everything from fishing to finding the right woman. We loved the idea of ‘Took One Look At Her Momma’ as a song title, and once we all got into the writing room it came together pretty quickly from there,” said Nichols.
