The show called upon Sugarland to present the category, in which Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles bantered on stage about what it’s like to work with another person on certain projects. Although they joked that sometimes things don’t always go as smooth as expected, they agreed that the results end up incredible more times than not.
“I just gotta thank everybody, especially Lauren for jumping on the song with me. Thanks to all the fans that voted. This is my first award that I ever won, so this is an amazing feeling,” Brown said, with a bright smile on his face.
Alaina brought up their past growing up together, and couldn’t believe they made it as far as they have as one solid unit.
“Thank you guys so much! I’ve known Kane since we were little kids–we were in middle school chorus class together in seventh grade, so this is kinda crazy. Thank you guys so much,” Alaina agreed with happiness.
The other nominees included Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be,” Carrie Underwood and Ludacris’ “The Champion,” Cole Swindell and Dierks Bentley’s “Flatliner,” Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton’s “Say Something” and Thomas Rhett and Maren Morris’ “Craving You”.
The 2018 CMT Music Awards were hosted by Little Big Town, and aired live from the Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville.
