Kane Brown surprised his mini-me, This Us Us star Lonnie Chavis, with a sweet gift recently.
In a video posted by Chavis, who plays a young Randall Pearson on the hit NBC show, the two sat down for a fan Q&A, except Brown had a little surprise up his sleeve. At the end of the conversation, Brown asked “Fans want to know how it felt when you got that plaque for ‘Good As You’ going gold?”
The question left Chavis dumbfounded, until someone stepped in, presenting him with a plaque for the song.
“Are you guys kidding? You guys know I’m going to cherish this when I’m older right?” said Chavis.
The SAG-award winner shared the moment to his Instagram, writing “I showed up to a recording studio surprised to even see Kane Brown and thought I was gonna do a mini interview with him answering fan questions. Then they present me with my First-Ever Gold Plaque for appearing in his ‘Good As You’ music video, the single has officially gone gold!! This moment and plaque is so special to me, mainly because of how kind and humble of a human @kanebrown_music is! Thank you KB & @katejae_ & @nikkiboon & Kane’s WHOLE team for making more of a kids dreams come true.”
Chavis lent his acting skills to Brown’s “Good As You” music video, posing as a younger version of the country hitmaker. The clip served as a tribute to Brown’s hard-working mother and nana.
“We grew up with hardly any money, and there’s a lot of scenes in here where you can see how I was actually raised,” Brown says in a separate, behind-the-scenes clip. “This is paying tribute to my nana and my mom and how they raised me – I love them very much.”
The surprise was a welcome break in the midst of Brown’s busy year. In addition to joining Jason Aldean for the 2019 Ride All Night Tour, the Georgia native is busy preparing to become a first-time father to a baby girl.
Fans can catch Chavis when This Is Us returns to NBC in the fall.
