Kane Brown is keeping fans in the loop as the new year gets underway. He’s got a new album in the works, and opened up about it to RADIO.COM’s Katie Neal.

Dropping in to Katie & Company via video call for the Superstar Power Hour, Brown had a lot to say about his personal life as live concerts are still not possible, including how he feels “retired” and what he’s been binge watching in the meantime. But for country fans, his new-album news was the most exciting.

The “Cool Again” and “Be Like That” hit maker is indeed working on a full album — his third full-length release and the follow-up to his Mixtape: Vol. 1 EP from 2020 — but whatever fans thought they knew about it is probably wrong. Brown’s been teasing his social media followers with clips of new tracks as he’s writing them, but now says they should be careful not to get attached. Hardly any of those songs will make the cut.

“(I’ve) got a good group of songs together,” Brown told Neal. “I know a lot of people are wondering if there’s just going to be songs added to the first EP or if we’re going to have a second EP. I will tell you that … ‘Worship You’ will probably be the only song that comes over for the rest of the album. You’ll have 14 to 11 new songs to come out. … But I’ve put songs up on the Instagram that are not gonna make the album. I was just excited for them at the time. It’s cool letting my fans kind of guess which ones are gonna be on there and which ones aren’t.”

That may sound disappointing if you had already fallen in love with the clips he’s posted — but on the other hand, it must mean he has even better ones ready to go. Meanwhile, the interview covered more personal ground as well.

Along with updating fans in on the new (to him) meaning behind “Worship You,” plus his just-released collaboration with Chris Young on “Famous Friends,” Brown also gave fans an update on his daughter, Kingsley. The adorable toddler turned one in October and is just now beginning to walk, and apparently, she already takes after her mom and dad.

“Me and Kate have a little attitude. So, you can definitely see that’s in her,” Kane Brown admitted.
