Kane Brown made history early Wednesday morning (4/14) when it was revealed that he won the ACM Award for Video of the Year. During an interview with CBS This Morning, Brown was told he’d won the coveted award, making him the first Black solo artist to win in this category.

“I wrote this song with three of my buddies out of Nashville,” shared Brown. “We were just like ‘you know, it would be a great day when everybody could just see the beautiful in the world… we’re all a little different, but we’re all just different types of beautiful. So we just wrote a song about it. When everything started coming out in the media, we felt like it was time to release it. Our fans were asking for it. I couldn’t ask for it to come out any better than it did.”

The song was so important to Brown that when he released “Worldwide Beautiful,” he shared that all of the song’s proceeds would go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. He recently made good on that promise, donating $100,000 to the organization.

On top of his Video of the Year win, Brown is currently nominated for Album of the Year, making him the first Black artist to be nominated in this category as well.

The singer will embark on his Blessed & Free Tour, beginning in October. The trek will take him to all 29 NBA Arenas across the country, making him the first country artist to visit them all on a single tour.

The 2021 ACM Awards, hosted by Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton, broadcast live on Sunday, April 18 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
