Katy Perry Shares Pregnancy Jokes With ‘American Idol’ Judges
Congrats to the growing family!
After using a music video to reveal she and actor Orlando Bloom are expecting their first child last Thursday (“Never Worn White”), Katy Perry broke the news to American Idol fans in a slightly more traditional way.
Found in a cute clip posted over the weekend (March 8), the pop superstar enlists fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie to make her pregnancy public — doing so in typically lighthearted fashion. “We’re having a baby!” she gushes, before adding a relatable “Oh my God, I’m terrified.”
Bloom had also shared the news with his fans the day before, but after a brief celebration, Perry’s Idol co-stars went right back to business. She first asks Bryan if he’ll throw her a baby shower, but has to make it clear there will be no fishing tackle involved. Dejected, Bryan then wonders aloud how things will change backstage, asking the blushing mom-to-be, “Does this mean your dressing room gets bigger?”
“Well, I’m definitely gonna get fat,” Perry says without missing a beat. “So look forward to that! Everything is gonna be bigger and better on American Idol Season 3!”
